Clarence Fahnestock State Park, NY

October 21, 2012

We left the Buggy at Clarence Fahnestock State Park, about 50 minutes north of Queens.  We didn’t need any hook-up as we were staying with Ryan.  We decided to take Ryan up for a drive on Sunday to see the Buggy first hand.  Some good fall pics from the State Park.

Visit with Siman in Baltimore

October 15 & 16, 2012

We arrived at Cherry Hill RV Park just outside of Baltimore today.  Although we only parked the Buggy there and stayed with our friend Siman, it was a very nice and clean park that gave excellent access to touring Baltimore and Washington DC within a 40 minute drive.

The leaves were changing - One of the wonderful things about traveling to the northeast in October.

We had a wonderful visit with Siman - an old friend from St. Pete.

A good view of Baltimore at its waterfront

The visit included a tour through the Baltimore Aquarium.  Take a look at the wonderful pics...

On to yet another lighthouse...

And a wonderful Lebanese food.   "Byblos", one of Siman's regular digs.

Cape Hatteras Light House

A stop at the Cape Hatteras Light House on the Outer Banks

Some might remember that in 1999, due to erosion of the shore, this lighthouse was moved from its original location at the edge of the ocean to safer ground 2,870 feet (870 m) inland. If you look it up on Wikipedia you'll see its a great engineering feat.

The Outer Banks

10/10/2012

The Drive from Aiken to the Outer Banks was uneventful.  This is important considering the scope of our experience in Waynesboro, GA.

We had a wonderful campground in Frisco Woods RV park – right on Pamlico Sound.

In the morning there were no less than 16 Kite Boarders right in the Sound outside of our door

We took a nice long walk on the Atlantic beach, grilled some vegetables, visited with some RV neighbors and had a wonderful relaxing time.

Ahhhh yes…  Retirement is setting in and we’re enjoying it.

Visit with Martha & Barry in Aiken SC

10/10/2012

Our visit with Martha & Barry was delightful. Lots of good conversation, home cooked meals, plenty of laughter and a 7-1/2 mile walk through Hitchcock Woods.

Aiken, SC is a warm, eclectic and beautiful city which we look forward to returning to someday.
